Art Update

The framed portrait I did of Thomas S. Monson for the Young Women auction sold for about $50. I am currently looking for a professional photographer that can take some high resolution photos of the portrait. Once this is done, you will be able to buy prints of the portrait! I'm hoping to have this available by mid- May.

I also auctioned a gift certificate for a custom piece; either a painting or sketch, on paper, canvas or board, up to 16x20; or a 10x10 foot wall mural.

An eleven year old girl won the custom piece for $26. She was bidding on both, using her own money, but was outbid at the last minute on the portrait. It was really cute. I was extremely intrigued as well. What would a young girl want me to do for her? She really wanted it, too. There were lots of youth-oriented items to bid on; why bid on the art?

It turns out she wants a pencil portrait done of her with Christ. I can't think of anything or anyone more difficult to draw than Christ. Obviously there are no photos for references. I will have to use a model. That in itself creates a challenge -- do you know anyone that looks like Christ willing to model for free? But mostly it's that everyone has a very unique and personal image of Christ already in their mind. It will be hard to measure up to that.

Fortunately, I have lots of ideas and am actually excited to get started. One of Matthew's classmates' fathers is tall, thin, has long hair, and facial hair. I think he would be willing to let me take a few pictures of him. If I can convince him to come over when I'm photographing the young lady and her father and get him into some robes it will be even better!

Go to kenyon on my sidebar, she has pics of the guy who posed for the temple display or something. There are tons of amateur photogs, I have one on my sidebar but she lives in England, but is visiting for a few more days. Mark Mabry is good, but pricey. jenny biggs, you can search her on google. You should do etsy with your art.
