Art Update

The online exhibit is now open for the 8th International Art Competition,
"Remembering the Great Things of God."

I am deeply humbled. And not necessarily in that sweet, holding-a-newborn way. More like I just received a big reality check, slap-the-ego-right-out-of-you way. All the other art in the exhibit is so far above my level, I'm actually speechless {dare I say, even a little sick to my stomach}. I have no idea why the jury members decided to include my piece but seeing the others they also chose has left me in awe. I am confused and humbled, but very, very grateful.

Your piece is just as good as all the others, you should be very happy with your piece because it is YOU.

I can see why they chose you! You are so stinkin' talented - that's why!

I agree. You should not feel disappointed. You are in an art exhibit with people like Greg Olsen! To me, that says that you are GOOD ENOUGH!!

I wish they had used a better explaination of the symbolism in yours! You can't really see everything from the picture. It is soooo beautiful in real life!

Some of those paintings are amazing. But I love the ones that are different! The wood ones and the glass ones. I think it is amazing that you even did it. You really have amazing talent and you should be thinking about your next thing.

Want some help? I need some art for my house.

I like yours because it is so personal. You were very creative in the mediums that you used. The story is symbolic and your piece is very symbolic as well. It's not just a painting.

I know how you feel though. Like when I was playing organ for the stake choir and the director says (in front of everyone) "I think we'll just stick to piano." Ugh.

By the way- were you born in Alaska? I just wondered why it said that by your piece.

Thanks everyone! I do feel better. I went to an art festival this weekend and was so inspired by the "not just a plain painting" things I saw. I realized tat I enjoy and appreciate the realists out there, but I have so much more fun when I make some different and unique!

And yes, Andrea, I was born in Alaska! I spent all of four months there. But I don't mind representing AK, esp since Chris also served his mission there :D

WOW! I can't wait to go see it. I got my Ensign in the mail today and was wondering about it. I haven't been on my blog or anyone elses for quite some time. I am so excited for you though! You are amazing!
