Art Update

This summer I attempted my first portrait painting. This is an 8x10 acrylic on canvas of my oldest son, Brandon.

Acrylic paints dry extremely quickly making blending difficult. Because of this portraits are usually done in oils. I think I would enjoy painting portraits with oils more, but am pleased enough with how my first one came out considering the difficulty of painting portraits with acrylics.

This one took me about 4 hours painting overall.

Ironically, Brandon likes the study I did first best. I did this in about an hour - just experimenting with washes and such and not paying too much attention to anything else.

I can see why he likes the initial one. He is softer in that painting. Some of your lines in the second one are a little harder.

They are both really good though. Keep at it.

Hey, congrats, too! You won the cookbook on my Recipe Roundup - (BTW, your No Bakes recipe is one of my favorites, too.)

When you have a minute, will you email me the address where you would like me to send the book? My email is pam[!at] passitonplates.com

Thanks!

I can't believe that just took 4 hours! Hanna's really into art and doing well. I show her your stuff and say "keep practicing and you can be like this someday"!
