178th Semiannual General Conference

Did you know that the spring sessions of Conference are called the ### ANNUAL General Conference, while the fall sessions are called (same # as the spring) SEMIANNUAL General Conference? Well, now you know!

What was your favorite song? We had so many problems with the streaming video that I don't think I heard a full song through. Instead, we used the songs as a chance to reboot and try different players, etc. The choir was singing "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" before the first session. I love that song!
Which talk was your favorite? Do I have to pick? Usually I have a favorite, but not this time.
What made you laugh? When Pres. Monson paused before announcing a new temple in Rome and when Pres. Uchtdorf said that a toddler may hope for a toy phone, an adolescent for a phone call from a special friend, and an adult for the phone to stop ringing all together.
What made you cry? Sister Silvia Allred's story of her grandson's baptism. I'll elaborate below.
Which part was "what you needed to hear"? I guess all of it. Nothing really jumped out at me this time. The Saturday morning session must have been the one I paid the closest attention to, though, because all my answers are from that session.
I did not fail to notice that as a was eating a huge plate full of french toast Elder Perry was speaking on taking care of our bodies with proper nutrition.
I liked what Andersen said on faith, that it is more than a feeling - it is a decision.
I am sure I will more than benefit from reading them all again next month. Natalie at My MTC Mission did a great synopsis of each session and talk. What was your favorite talk? Hahaha, did I put that in twice?

Sister Allred briefly shared her conversion story and then told how her grandson had asked for her to speak at his baptism. When she asked him why he had chosen her his answer was something along the lines of, "But Grandma, don't you understand? If you had not chosen the gospel I would not be here!"

I am a convert as well. I was the sole member of my family to be baptized when I was just 16. Each time we have a family milestone, like a baptism, I am reminded how my decision has impacted the lives of others. I look forward to the day when my grandchild might say the same thing to me.

This picture is from June 1994, three months after my baptism. I am standing with Mark Flanders who introduced me to the gospel and baptized me. This was taken the day he received the Melchizedek Priesthood.
I don't have any pictures from my baptism. I know someone does, though {I hope}. Mom, Mark and Nicole, anybody? If you have some will you send them to me. It is something I think my children should have if they can!

*sniff* And if you hadn't have joined the church, you wouldn't have married Chris... and then you wouldn't have come to TN where your parents were... and you wouldn't have been at church ... and I wouldn't have met you ... and then I'd be in a total despair from not knowing Kristal. lol (only halfway kidding. ... kinda. lol)

Loved the conference meme.
The best part of this is about your baptism. I could go on and on following Krissy's thoughts, but I will spare you!
This is awesome!
I don't even know if there are any pictures of my baptism either! :-(

That's awesome.

I love your picture too. PS: I had that EXACT same dress and hair in 1994! Twins!
