I, like most moms, have times when I feel overwhelmed by all the things I am supposed to/would like to/wish I could do. But then there are the times when, despite the chaos and sleep deprivation, I manage to have a clean home, a balanced checkbook, pleasant children, a happy husband, and some little bit of sanity left to spare. This past Labor Day was one of those shining moments of domesticity.
I was up and at the store just after six. My friend, Lisa, was here by seven and many hours later we had turned this:

I am by no means a domestic expert. But every now and then I find myself rolling up my sleeves and reminding myself (and I think probably my husband and children, too) just how strong a mom can be - how strong I am. Being a mom is exhausting - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And I can do it. Sometimes I can do it pretty darn well!

Of course you can! All women learn this lesson sometime in their life. Those peaches and sauce look great-can't wait to try them.
I'm very proud of you! You have always seemed to take on an enormous amount and done so much at once and always you have come through with a smile!

Impressive! I haven't gotten quite that far with my fruit and veggies.
Those are some AWESOME colors! It is almost as fun to just look at them as it is to eat them!
I'm having one of the emotionally, physically, spiritually crazy and off moments (days) too! We are so strong and so lucky. I'm often reminded of Nie too and lots of others for whom we have so much to be grateful for. Thanks for reminding me and letting me know that you're human too!
You're such a great mom and wife! I look up to you!!
That's awesome! It looks very appetizing! I canned for the first time this year...and one of the things I canned was tomatoes!
